Interview with Santiago Carrera from Chicken Girls
Tell us a little about yourself and how you began acting.
I began acting in school plays in elementary school, I always thought it was so fun and I realized I wanted to do it professionally. When I was 11 I started local acting classes in San Diego and 6 months later signed with an agent and manager, and switched over to LA classes with my current coach Cynthia Bain! Since then I’ve just stuck with me team and that’s how I get all my auditions and projects!
What did you do to prepare for the role as Gus?
Before anything I like to coach with my acting coach to make sure I’m fully prepared to film. I also like to create backstories for my characters in areas that may not be obvious, such as family life, where the character grew up, etc.
Tell us about the day you found out you landed the part.
I was at the doctors office about to get a shot as my manager called us, I was so nervous to answer because I was waiting to hear if I booked Chicken Girls or not. I answered the phone and I booked it! It was definitely a memorable moment.
What is your favorite episode of "Chicken Girls"? This is a tough question because I really don’t know, but I’d say the most fun episode to film was the Halloween episode in Season 7 so maybe that one!
What's your favorite food and Restaurant?
My favorite restaurant is Catch LA and I love their spicy tuna crispy rice, it’s so so good! In general I’d say my favorite food is a good pasta or Italian food in general.
Do you have any special plans for this summer?
I do! I’m currently in Mexico with my family, and I plan to go to Cabo later in August! Between that I’ll just be hanging out with friends!
Who's on your summer playlist?
So many different artists but to name a few there’s Kanye, Dua Lipa, Taylor Swift, The Weeknd, Drake, Rihanna, Doja Cat, Harry Styles and so many more!
What's your favorite social media app?
I’d have to say TikTok because I can spend so much time on it and not get bored!
