Alist Nation November 2021 Issue

Interview

Tell us a little about yourself.

Symonne: hi! I’m Symonne Harrison. I was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where I started dancing at the age of 2 and acting at 7 years old. My family moved to Los Angeles 3 years ago to further pursue my acting career. Some of my most notable acting projects are: the Showtime, Golden Globe winning drama series, The Affair. I was in the recent feature film, The Christmas Dance. I was on season 1 and 2 of Nickelodeon’s series, Hot Mess. I’ve worked with major brands such as Disney, Nickelodeon, Spin Master, Gap, SkyZone and Funimate and many others. I’m so thankful for 5 Million followers across my social media: YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok. I love and appreciate all my fans so much.

Tell us about your YouTube channel

Symonne: my YouTube channel is a fun range of videos including vlogs, pranks and challenges with my friends. I love to create content with my friends and my boyfriend Nick. Nick and I have a major Snick (#Snick = Symonne + Nick) prank wars going on between our channels. It’s so fun to come up with video ideas to entertain my audience week after week. I always ask my subscribers what they want to see in my channel and I work hard to make them happy. If they are happy that makes me happy.

How did the two of you meet?

Nick: Symonne and I followed each other a few years ago on social media & became friends! From there we filmed a few YouTube videos here & there and become close in early 2021. Once we got closer, we immediately began liking each other & started falling in love! We quickly found out that we loved spending time together, so i asked her out in May! It’s actually featured in a YouTube video on Symonnes channel “Telling my crush I like him to see how he reacts”. I asked her to be my girlfriend on a lookout point above Los Angeles, it was a really special beautiful moment. I’m happiest With You Symonne!

How did you come up for the idea of the song “with you"?

Nick & Symonne: #Snicks first original song was SO MUCH FUN to create! We started our singing journey by obviously training a bunch, multiple times a week for months. Then it was time to actually write the song. It wasn’t too hard for us because we knew we wanted the song to be all about our relationship. we started by listing all of our fun memories & core moments in our relationship. Then, we put them together throughout the song & fit each memory/note in like a puzzle. We created “With You” to be a fun, relatable song that people can smile & jam out to! #Snick loves to blast songs in the car so we hope for people to do the same with our song!

What are some of the things you admire about each other?

Symonne: I admire Everything about Nick, lol! Seriously, Nick is so special. He is a self motivated, positive and hardworking person. I’m amazed at how many things he can juggle at one time and never complains about anything. Nick is super kind, patient and always makes every day better just by being by my side. He has the ability to make anything fun and exciting and when he smiles, he just makes me smile. I love his heart and how he cares for everyone in his life and how kind he is to everyone.

Do you have anything fun planned for thanksgiving?

Symonne: My grandparents are going to be flying in from Cleveland to be with us for Thanksgiving. I’m so excited to spend time with them. I’m also excited to eat some of their delicious traditional dishes they love to cook for us. Nick will be coming over and spending the holiday with us. I can’t wait!

Where is your favorite restaurant in LA?

Symonne: Nick and I love going out to fun restaurants together. We love trying new places and we have our go to favorites. One of my favorite places is Barton G’s in West Hollywood. The food is great and it’s a truly unique experience. The food presentations are definitely Instagram-worthy and they taste equally delicious. If you go, don’t miss the Popcorn shrimp appetizer served in a popcorn machine, the Mouse trap Mac n cheese served on a real mouse trap and for dessert Marie Antoinettes Head (a towering 4ft of cotton candy looking hair). It’s a must go to in LA.

What type of music do you like? Who are some of your favorite artists to listen to at the moment?

Symonne: I love all types of music and enjoy listening to various artists. Depending on my mood, I can go from slow chill songs to getting hyped with rap or pop songs. Currently, I’ve been listening to Bruno Mars, Billie Eilish and the Kid Laroi a lot.

What was it like filming the music video for “with you”?

Nick & Symonne: Filming the music video was so special for both of us. We have done so many music videos for others but this was the first time that we were actually the main character. We had planned out our vision with our team and it was amazing seeing it all come together. We packed SO many things into a 12 hour shoot, yup we filmed the whole music video in 12 hours. In that time frame we went on a helicopter, went shopping on rodeo drive, drove a jeep down the Malibu coast, walked around the beach, made it rain in LA for a rain scene, & finally got the iconic scene of us looking at polaroid's from moments throughout the day! We had the best possible team & we couldn’t have asked for a better day.

Do you plan on writing more music together?

Nick & Symonne: yes, we definitely plan on making more music together. Even though we just released our first song, we both love to do it together & that’s what matters most to us. As long as we are having fun creating great songs that inspire people & make them smile, we will continue to make music:) Stay tuned for a cover coming around Christmas time & potentially another original #snick song in 2022.

Who would your dream collab be with on YouTube ?

Symonne: There are a lot of talented youtubers I would love to collab with. My short list would be: Zhc, Lexi Rivera, Brent Rivera and Joey Garceffa It would be so fun to create some great content with any one of them. I get inspired by different styles and love to learn from other creators.
